Traditionally, officers of Highland line regiments carried the brass-mounted versions while for officers of militia regiments and pipe majors the silver mounted versions were favored, though there were many exceptions to this rule. The grip is in the customary basket-weave pattern. The 10 1/2 " blade is detailed in a black and silver pattern to simulate a damascus look. This piece measures 16 3/4 " overall
